Austin’s Transit Moonshot: The Making of Project Connect

Austin is the 11th largest city in the country. We’re a growing region with 155 cars arriving every week and 4,500 people every month. At this rate, our population will double by 2040. Our roads can’t grow that fast.

But right now, in Austin, most people aren't given the choice. The need for a car is chosen for them.

Imagine designing not just one person's journey through your product. Now, imagine designing hundreds of thousands of journeys, across an entire metropolitan area, that reaches users of every income level, neighborhood, ability level, and expectations. That's Project Connect, and it took years of systems design work.

Hear the methods, lessons, and stories from the minds behind Project Connect: Austin's multigenerational transportation plan. Embracing Austin's maturity meant a more equitable, sustainable, and enjoyable way to get around.
