After the success of its inaugural 2016 event—which had thousands of participants—Austin Design Weekwill return this November.

Taking place November 7-11, this year’s event will be an interdisciplinary exploration and celebration of designs and designers of all kind of all kind—from architects to graphic designers to urban planners to filmmakers and more—and will involve a mix of independently organized lunchtime workshops, and studio tours, as well as talks, panels, or art installations in the evenings.

Austin Design Week was founded by three Austin women—Danielle Barnes, former regional director at General Assembly; Candice Digby, marketing lead at General Assembly; and Amber Atkins, head of global recruiting at IBM Design. The 2017 advisory board Julie Yost (SXSW), Randy Gregory II (IBM Watson), Doreen Lorenzo (executive director of the Center for Integrated Design, University of Texas-Austin), Brendan Wittstruck (Asakura Robinson), and Alexis Puchek (frog).

It’s all free and open to the public, and, if last year is any indication, quite fun. The theme this year is “Finding Place,” which the fest is leaving to broad interpretation, and plans for one even bigger than last year’s, which included 50 separate event with thousands of participants.
