From Narrative Scarcity to Abundance: Making Space for Untold Stories

As creatives and designers, we have the opportunity to change the landscape of whose stories are shared and explored.

Join Nina Ho and Regine Malibiran, the co-founders of collective blue (a lifestyle brand that celebrates diverse creators through digital storytelling and event production), for a workshop exploring how we can give others the space to tell their stories in a way that’s honest, vulnerable, and uncensored.

We’ll start the workshop with a short primer on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s idea of narrative scarcity. From there, we’ll elaborate on the process we’ve utilized to interview over 40 diverse creators in the past three years: Establish context to build empathy Create a comfortable environment Keep the interview conversational Frame questions that give space for vulnerability (what, how, why) Produce a narrative that celebrates untold stories.

During the workshop, attendees will have an opportunity to practice the process with others, gain perspective into marginalized voices, and build community.
