Join us for a multi-disciplinary, hands on workshop about the future of the things that keep Austin Austin: our food trucks, musicians and artists. Work with a group to develop ideas to prevent our City from losing the Austinites that make this city special.
This workshop will engage designers and design fans of all backgrounds in a strategic brainstorming activity that has the potential to improve the lives of all Austinites by addressing our housing affordability crisis. Local press covers housing issues regularly, but missing from the conversation is what Austin stands to lose without swift action to reduce housing costs: the people and places that make our City unique, our culture bearers. These are the food truck owners, musicians, artists, and teachers that make this City a great place to live. The goal of this workshop is to harness the creative energy in the room towards developing a multifaceted campaign that can be used to bring awareness action towards protecting Austin’s culture. The session will begin with a short presentation about the issues surrounding housing in Austin today. Attendees will thenl break into facilitated small groups to brainstorm a public awareness marketing campaign that could help bring this issue to light. Types of things that may result include social media campaigns, branding strategies, and public messaging. Designers of all types will contribute to the effort.
