Volunteer at ADW21!

Austin Design Week is a week-long celebration of all things design in Austin. Our mission is to bring together design communities and designers across disciplines – from graphic designers to architects, service designers and fashion designers, artists, product designers, and more – to showcase their craft and learn from one another. It is also our mission to invite Austin residents and visitors to participate and learn how design affects their lives and how they can get involved.

Austin Design Week is a free event and entirely volunteer-run. We need your help making it a reality! Our Call for Volunteers is now open. We'll need folks November 8th - 12th to help with our in-person AND virtual events. Each of these events has separate volunteer needs. Please read more below.

Volunteer for In-Person Events

Our in-person volunteers will help make the experience for our in-person events are a positive experience for everyone.

You'll be responsible for helping folks check in and representing ADW at each in-person event. This includes:

  • Arriving at the event 30 minutes early to meet with the host
  • Checking in each attendee and helping monitor space capacity
  • Help ensure our Health & Safety Guidelines and Code of Conduct are being followed

**Please note that as with all attendees and hosts, in-person volunteers should be vaccinated and wear a mask at all times.

Volunteer for Online Events

Our online volunteers will help make the experience for our online events are a positive experience for everyone.

You'll be responsible for being a "chat room cheerleader" – this means helping folks get excited about the event. You will also:

  • Help answer ADW-related questions
  • Help ensure our Code of Conduct is being followed
  • Take notes on the event to share highlights in the ADW Slack

Volunteer to Cover ADW21 events on Social Media

In addition to our in-person and online volunteers highlighted above, we're looking for a handful of folks to help support our social media team and live cover ADW21 events via Twitter and Instagram stories.

As an ADW21 Social Media Volunteer, you would:

  • Sign up to attend and cover at least 3 events during ADW (we'll be looking for folks to cover both in-person and virtual events).
  • Work with the ADW21 social media and communications team to get set up with our platforms and trained on our brand guidelines.

  • If you'd like to cover virtual or in-person events
  • Your experience with Twitter and Instagram (while you don't need to be a social media professional, we do need folks familiar with the platforms).
