Pop-Up Design Zine Archive

Visitors to Austin Design Week’s HUB can browse, view, and create design-oriented zines. Designing future communities and design practices requires archives of stories, processes, and solutions tried. Zines (pronounced ‘zeen’, from magazine) are an equitable, accessible, and affordable way to learn, preserve, and share information. Archiving design processes, design practices, and design topics via zines is essential to ensuring all voices are represented and preserved regardless of education, professional stature, location, or finances.

Visitors to the Pop-up Design Zine Archive can:

  • Recognize basic history and ethos of zines as a media form
  • Explore existing zines as part of the Design Zine Archive
  • Learn how to apply your personal design practice and point of view to create a zine with agency
  • Collaborate with other local designers and zine makers to create and contribute to the Design Zine Archive
  • Focus on community-based design practices over individual successes
